Check Out These 7 Common Volkswagen Repairs

Published by Webmaster

Owning a Volkswagen Comes with Some Common Problems

When you own a Volkswagen, you own a unique experience. But like all makes and models of automotive brands, there are some known issues that all owners should keep on their radars. Check out these seven common repairs.

Seven Common Volkswagen Issues & Repairs

Fluid Leaks Fluid leaks can occur for several reasons, whether it’s an oil or coolant leak. Since leaks occur at the weakest points, some of the biggest places to find them are the valve cover gaskets, camshaft seals, plugs, front and rear crankshank seals, and cam chain tensioners gasket and seals and O-rings. Coolant hoses can also be responsible for leaks.

Replacement of Parts The timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and rollers should all be replaced at the same time once the check engine light is on. All of these parts work together, so it’s a great proactive practice to keep them on the same life cycle.

Overheating If you experience overheating while driving or sitting idle, it’s important to have your vehicle looked at as soon as possible. Remember, the VW cooling system holds a relatively small amount of coolant, so if you start to experience this issue, it could be a failing coolant reservoir or radiator or a malfunctioning engine fan.

Weird Noises If you hear squeaking or clicking noises when starting your VW, you could have a suspension issue caused by faulty ball joints or worn-out bushings on the control arms. If your mechanic determines those aren’t the issue, they’ll also check the hinges holding the wheels to the frame, the brake pads, rotors, or even the vehicle’s springs.

Dashboard Lights An easily known issue is to tighten your gas cap if your check engine light is on. If the light remains, it could be a more serious issue, like a blown head gasket, faulty fuel injector, or more. If you see the brake light or ABS light illuminated, that module has probably failed. Never ignore any yellow or red lights on your dash.

Shaking Steering Wheel Steering wheels shake when your rotors are worn, or your wheels are unbalanced. Either way and especially if you just had new ones installed or aligned, you should contact your trusted European mechanic shop to get everything checked out.

Electrical Issues If you’re experiencing electrical issues, always check the battery first. If the battery is fine, it could be the starter or parasitic drain.

All of these issues require further investigation. If you’re in the Snellville, GA, area, contact the knowledgeable mechanics at Eurofed Automotive for scheduled maintenance today.

Great staff! (Highly Skilled) They were able to find an ongoing issue with my car that two dealerships failed to detect.

The staff had a clear understanding of the problem and were able to explain it to me in a way that I could understand. Thanks to them, I was able to take my car back to the dealership to have it fixed.
